In our favourite/famous? Hunger-buster Smoothie recipe we generally include a raw egg.
I have since found out that there is a characteristic of raw egg white which has nutritional implications that SCD’ers should be aware of. Uncooked egg white apparently binds to biotin, making it unabsorbable by the body.
This Wikipedia article outlines some of the symptoms of biotin deficiency.
Hence lately, I have taken to omitting the eggs from our SCD hunger-buster smoothie. Occasionally I will still add an egg, but only occasionally. I prefer to err on the side of caution with these things, and will amend my smoothie recipe posts to incorporate this information.
