Well that should be the name of this smoothie anyway. 😉
Hubby lost 8 kg in the first 9 weeks on the SCD diet, and it got a bit worrying since he wasn’t overweight in the first place. Anyway, we kept “doctoring” the morning smoothies, and he is slowly starting to replace some of the weight he has lost. This recipe is the latest version.
1 frozen banana
1 Cup SCD yogurt
1 Tbsp Honey
1/2 – 1 tsp cinnamon
a little nutmeg if you like
you can also add an ice cube or two if you want it “drinkable”. The avocado tends to make it thick enough that it needs to be eaten with a spoon rather than drinking it.
Sometimes hubby adds a tablespoon of almond flour, but I don’t bother with that. Makes for a really nutritious, quick and sustaining breakfast. I usually can’t resist a taste but my weight is already more than I’d like it to be, so I don’t have the need of the added calories.
This is one of the few things on SCD that really seems like value for money when most other SCD things seem so expensive. Hubby is vegetarian so I buy a lot of fresh melons, grapes etc that I didn’t buy much of before the SCD. It seems the only way to ensure reasonable variety so he doesn’t get bored stiff, but makes the food budget a bit eye-watering at times. But with the extra ripe bananas being available (sometimes anyway) at about a dollar a kilo, and the avocados being freebies (windfalls on the orchard we live on), and the wonderful free range eggs I buy from my neighbour down the road, this really packs a punch in terms of nutritional bang for your buck. Even if I had to buy the avocados, it would still be pretty flash. Enjoy.
